Orman Avenue Homecoming A Smashing Success

Orman Avenue Homecoming A Smashing Success

Hundreds of SCJC, PJC, PC, SCSC and USC Alumni returned to their roots on October 9 & 10 as they attended one of the festivities planned within the first annual Orman Avenue Homecoming Reunion.  “I am humbled beyond words,” explained Pueblo Community College President Dr. Erjavec as she took to the stage Friday evening to address those in attendance at the Alumni Dinner.  “You make up the past of our amazing college and we are most honored to welcome you home to the place that holds so many special memories for each of you.”

The 2015 Orman Avenue Homecoming Celebration was coordinated by the Pueblo Community College Foundation and the PCC Alumni Association.  The weekend of events were planned to celebrate the past and bring alumni from this campus into the folds of the current PCC Alumni Association.

Events during the weekend of activities included an alumni dinner and nostalgic bonfire on Friday night, an alumni breakfast on Saturday morning followed by VIP tours of the campus and the ability to join with PCC faculty and staff in the dedication of the PCC Fountain Student Project.

“It truly was an amazing series of events for past and present students who attended college classes on the Orman Avenue Campus,” explained PCC Foundation Director Martha Simmons.  “The alumni had such a great time being here and visiting with friends and out student volunteers gained a new-found respect for the heritage that their campus holds within the landscape of higher education in the State of Colorado.  This campus has been the place for thousands of individuals who were seeking out higher education opportunities.  And, along the way, memories of special friends, first loves, collegiate athletics, dramatic performances and more provided the glue to mold this campus into a very special place for one and all.”
