2015 PCCF Scholarship Luncheon Slated for October 6
The Pueblo Community College Foundation will be hosting its annual Scholarship Luncheon on Tuesday, October 6 at 11:30 p.m. in the Fortino Ballroom on the second floor of the Pueblo Community College Student Center. Any PCCF scholarship donor is invited to attend this very special luncheon and meet their PCCF scholarship recipient.
“This truly is a wonderful event for both our donors and our students,” explains Barbara Fortino, Chairwoman of the PCCF Scholarship committee. “The event puts a face to the name of those students who have qualified for our scholarship grant awards.”
The Pueblo Community College Foundation annually awards over $360,000 in scholarship awards to approximately 150 PCC students who are seeking higher education at any one of the four PCC campuses (Pueblo, Canon City, Durango, and Mancos/Cortez). All PCC students are encouraged to submit PCCF scholarship applications during the spring semester each year with the intent of competing for one of the top monetary awards that assist students in paying for tuition, fees and in some cases for school supplies. “It is such an honor to receive a PCCF scholarship,” explained Jill Brown, a 2014/15 PCCF scholarship recipient. “Those funds truly made a difference to me and my family; allowing us a bit of financial respite while I was enrolled at PCC.”
The 2015 PCCF Scholarship Luncheon is a required element for all PCCF scholars. Each recipient is strongly encouraged to attend the event and interface with the donor who was responsible for underwriting their financial award. “I cannot tell you how special it was to meet the person responsible for my scholarship award,” explained Brown. “I now have a champion on my side; giving me support on all fronts!”
The 2015 Scholarship Reception is being presented by the Pueblo Community College Foundation in association with Pueblo Bank & Trust. The 2015 Patron Sponsors for this year’s luncheon are Life Care Center of Pueblo and University Park Care Center.
