2018 Pueblo Hall of Fame Slated of Saturday, February 10, 2018

3 Outstanding Citizens to be Honored

Three prominent citizens who have made significant social, civil and charitable contributions to the community have been chosen for induction into the Pueblo Hall of Fame.Local businesswoman Dee Rogers Brown, former Pueblo Chief District Judge Dennis Maes and Pueblo sports and university supporter Dan DeRose will be honored as 2018 inductees in the hall of fame’s 28th year of recognizing Puebloans whose efforts have contributed to the betterment of the city.Dee Rogers BrownBrown came to Pueblo from Albuquerque, N.M., in 2000 as project manager for WL. Enterprises Ltd., and through her role as project manager, has overseen notable local projects such as the expansion of the North Side from Eagleridge Boulevard to Dillon Drive and west of city limits.She has been involved in giving substantial gifts from WLE to the Pueblo community and has served on numerous community boards — as treasurer of the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, community support chairman of the YMCA, chairperson of the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce and board member of the Women’s foundation of Colorado’s Pueblo Committee.Dan DeRoseDeRose is a Pueblo native who graduated from East High School and the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University-Pueblo) and is the co-founder and president of local marketing firm DD Marketing.

DeRose has strong ties to both athletics and higher education in Pueblo, having played football at East and USC and holding positions such as Colorado State University-Pueblo professor of business, football and track coach; CSU-Pueblo Foundation president; founder, president and board member of Friends of Football. He also served a short stint as CSU-Pueblo’s athletic director.

Dennis MaesMaes, after whom the Pueblo Justice Center is named in his honor, obtained his law degree at the University of Colorado in 1972 and served as a teacher in the Huerfano School District in Walsenburg prior to beginning his legal career.

He served as the deputy state public pefender in Pueblo and opened a private law practice that he operated until being appointed district judge of the Tenth Judicial District in 1988, and later chief district judge. He retired in 2012, but last month was elected to the Pueblo City Schools board.

The 2018 inductees will be honored at the annual hall of fame dinner on February 10, 2018 at Pueblo Community College in the Fortino Ballroom.

The hall of fame ceremony is one of the primary fundraising activities of the PCC Foundation, whose mission is to fund student scholarships and the college’s special needs that are not available through its general fund.
